Development Studies Association’s annual conference

Published: Fri 31 March 2017

The Development Studies Association’s annual conference in 2017 will take place at the University of Bradford, from 6-8th September 2017.

While encompassing the broad range of development studies interests, the suggested focus is Sustainability Interrogated: Societies, Growth, and Social Justice. This theme is elaborated here.

Building on the success of DSA2016, the association hopes to attract 500 or more participants from the Development Studies community for three days of panels, keynotes, study group business meetings and social events.

  • There was an open call for panels and 52 have been accepted. The call for papers is now open: read the theme, read the call for papers (which explains the process), and then proceed to view the accepted panels. Papers must be proposed to specific panels.
  • Decisions on those paper proposals will then be made by each panel's convenors. The deadline for submissions is 26th April.
  • Following the model of last year's event at Oxford University, the conference hopes to attract both academics and the wider community of colleagues working in the realm of policy and practice.
