Importance of microRNA in hair biology

Published: Tue 15 Apr 2014

Importance of microRNA in hair biology demonstrated by Dr Natalia Botchkareva and colleagues at two major conferences

The 9th Annual Oxford RNAi Conference, RNAi 2014, was held from 25-27 March 2014, St Hilda's College, Oxford, UK and discussed short and long non-coding RNAs, their roles in gene regulation, functional studies, RNA biomarkers and their therapeutic applications.

Dr Natalia Botchkareva gave a talk "MicroRNA-214 controls skin and hair follicle development by targeting beta-catenin and modulating the activity of Wnt signaling pathway"

The annual meeting of the North American Hair Research Society will be held during the SID conference in May. Dr Natalia Botchkareva is an invited speaker and will give a talk "Integration of microRNA-mRNA Expression Profiles Reveals Regulatory Networks Controlling Hair Cycle Progression"

Her colleagues Krzysztof Poterlowicz, Majid Alam, Eerik Aunin and Mike Fessing have all contributed to this work which is funded through the MRC
