Contemporary parenting cultures
Professor Abigail Locke
Professor Abigail Locke is a critical social/health psychologist and has research interests around gender, identity, parenting and qualitative methodologies.
Her current research work focuses on societal constructions of ‘good’ motherhood’ and ‘good fatherhood’, and she has applied this lens to issues around stay-at-home dads, infant feeding and the advice given to new parents.
In this video Abigail talks about what it’s like to be a parent in today’s austere society and the pressures parents face and how mothers and fathers experience this differently.
