In this level 7 module you will gain a detailed knowledge and understanding of natural resource governance, co-operation and conflict in developing countries, and particularly in transitional, fragile or conflict-affected countries or areas. It particularly examines local and national policies, resource tenure regulations, conflicts and practices (in their international contexts) concerning land, water, forests, seas, and mineral resources. It examines recent and contemporary policy debates on strategies and reforms for improving natural resource governance for sustainable development, preventing natural resource conflicts, and promoting co-operative approaches in developing or transitional societies, and particularly in fragile or conflict affected areas and regions. It also introduces you to relevant professional methodologies and their application relating to assistance programmes for natural resource governance, for example conflict and gender sensitivity assessments for the natural resource sectors.
