This module aims to provide students with a foundational understanding of Earth Observation (EO) systems, including the key concepts, technologies, and processes involved in acquiring, processing, and interpreting satellite-based data. Students will explore both optical and microwave remote sensing techniques and learn how EO data can be applied to address real-world challenges in areas such as environmental monitoring, urban development, and disaster response. The module will develop students' ability to handle satellite imagery, extract meaningful geospatial information, and visualise data effectively. It will also introduce current trends and emerging challenges in the EO sector, fostering awareness of the evolving landscape of EO technologies and their societal impact.
