Reliability and Safety Engineering

Module code: ENB6009-B

This L6 module builds on knowledge acquired in L4 (Computer Aided Engineering, Mathematical Methods and Applications, and Fundamentals of Sustainability) and L5 (Chemistry for Engineers, Reaction Engineering, Thermodynamics and Carbon Management Technologies, Transport Processes and Mass Transfer Operations). Specifically, this module will discuss the concepts, theories and principles to improve system reliability, safety and sustainability. After completing this module, students will be able to understand, critically evaluate and coherently implement the system reliability and safety core knowledge as well as relevant practices, tools and methods that support the design, analysis, operation and maintenance of complex engineering systems. This module supports two key learning pillars: Process Engineering and Sustainable Engineering. As students progress through their programme, they will dive deeper into these areas, starting with the basics at level 4 and moving towards more advanced topics at level 6 and beyond. All modules align with the Bradford Curriculum and meet the requirements of the IChemE accreditation framework. Download the PDF for ENB6009-B_2025_6.pdf
