Module code: CPE7004-B
This level 7 module builds on diverse knowledge acquired in level 4, 5 and 6. It is a multidisciplinary module that provides students with advanced knowledge of mixing, crystallisation, drying, extrusion, separation in process industry, the design of equipment for food and pharmaceutical processing such as mixing, hot melt extrusion, distillation, extraction, membrane separation and heat treatment units. Economic, legal, social and environmental issues are explained in relation to the use of these unit operations. The students will be exposed to food process models of different complexity, will be able to use these models in an industry standard modelling platform (gPROMS) and will be able optimise design and operation of various food processes. This module supports two key learning pillars: Process Engineering and Sustainable Engineering. As students progress through their programme, they will dive deeper into these areas, starting with the basics at level 4 and moving towards more advanced topics at level 6 and beyond. All modules align with the Bradford Curriculum and meet the requirements of the IChemE accreditation framework. Download the PDF for CPE7004-B_2025_6.pdf
