This module aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of modern security technologies and their applications for threat detection, monitoring, and intervention in contemporary digital environments. By examining tools and techniques for identifying security breaches and analysing potential vulnerabilities, students will be well-equipped to evaluate and apply security technologies that enable proactive threat management. Students will also explore some of the social, political and ethical dimensions of cyber security, to gain insights into the broader implications of security technologies. This module is designed to introduce practical, hands-on skills in incident response, forensics, secure software development, and advanced detection mechanisms to address the rapidly evolving security landscape.
