Computing is ubiquitous in modern society, so it is important to have an appreciation of the benefits it brings in areas such as electronic commerce, research and education, medicine, and sustainability. This module aims to introduce foundational concepts fundamental to computing, particularly the mathematical foundations of the subject and their application to problem solving and programming, and to develop practical computing skills through laboratory exercises and case studies.
