The Sociological Imagination is a concept advanced by the Sociologist C.W. Mills in 1959 to refer to the methodological practice of using personal troubles and psychological problems to explain wider issues of our times that relate to social structure and public policy. The module aims to: - awaken your Sociological Imagination - your ability to think beyond your immediate concerns and raise questions and arguments that include social processes and collective considerations. - introduce you to key classical and contemporary social thinkers. - deconstruct social problems and inequalities. - consider implications for policy and social cohesion.
