Module Aims

 

The aim of this module is to provide an overview of nursing concepts required prior to your first practice placement including an introduction to homeostasis, the respiratory system and the cardiovascular system. These subjects will be revisited in more detail as you progress on the programme. You will develop the knowledge required to aid you as a student nurse to understand your scope of practice and professional responsibility when assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating safe, effective person-centred care to service users who require nursing either in the hospital or community setting. You will explore and assess your own learning needs in relation to the academic practice, utilising a wide range of the University resources for example Academic Skills Advice Service and Student Disability Service. You will have the opportunity to relate theory to practice in clinical skills sessions. This knowledge and skills will equip you to demonstrate professional values and behaviours required in your practice placements.
