Module Aims 

This module is designed to introduce the defining features of the British Constitution including concepts of the rule of law and the separation of powers; to examine the role and function of the main organs of state and to identify the role of key individuals and groups participating in the democratic process and the sources of power; to enable students to appreciate the importance of current affairs and debates involving constitutional issues and reforms; to provide an understanding of the Crown and the role of prerogative powers; to provide a detailed appreciation of the privileges of Parliament; and to provide a thorough understanding of the law and mechanisms relevant to the democratic process.
