Module code: LAW7048-Z

Module Aims

The module is part of the induction to the LLM programmes of the School of Law. It will provide an introduction to distance learning education and relevant learning technologies and an introduction to the English and International Legal Systems and the sources of Law, and key academic skills, including research and analytical skills. The module is compulsory to all joining the LLM programmes and is particularly useful to you if you have not previously studied law or come from a non-common law background. The module will equip you with knowledge of sources and institutions of law, which is essential to allow you to successfully complete the LLM.The module will offer you an opportunity to study the module content in your own time at the beginning of the LLM programme. Upon completion of the module you will be assessed on the modules learning outcomes.
The module is not credit bearing. All students must take the module. There will be a diagnostic test at the end to establish a baseline of knowledge to target additional support for you. Based on the results of the test, the LLM programme team will prepare further support for students in the form of additional sessions (e.g training on learning technologies, academic skills advice sessions etc), in the identified areas from the test. The session will be delivered during the LLM course.
