Foundations of Law and Skills

Module code: LAW7029-R

Module Aims

The aim of the module is part of the induction to the LLM programmes of the School of Law, providing an introduction to the English and International Legal Systems and the sources of Law, and key academic skills, including research and analytical skills. The module is compulsory to all joining the LLM programmes and is particularly useful to you if you have not previously studied law or come from a non-common law background. The module will equip you with knowledge of sources and institutions of law which is essential to allow you to successfully complete the LLM.

There will be a diagnostic test at the end to establish a baseline of knowledge to target additional support for students. Based on the results of the test, the LLM programme team will advise students on additional support in the form of additional sessions (e.g. academic skills advice sessions), in the identified areas from the test. The session will be delivered during the LLM course.
