To provide an opportunity and a framework for original thinking, creativity, development of problem solving and analytical skills, and potentially to create new knowledge and insights within the context of a laboratory-based research project. To develop a comprehensive understanding and expertise in the area of the chosen project including the use of appropriate technical methods and instruments/equipment.
