The module aims to introduce you to a range of interdisciplinary approaches, which offer ways of understanding and theorising the relationship between individuals, groups and social institutions. Particular attention will be given to contrasting conceptions of 'self' and 'identity' within such understandings. You will explore the concept of ‘Self’ in Sociology and related disciplines. For example, you explore how fiction can be understood as a 'reflections' of selfhood, society and vice versa.
