Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) Practice

Module Aims

This module will prepare you for professional practice as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) and support the preparation of a portfolio to demonstrate the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Section 2 criteria in order to be eligible for approval as an AMHP. You will also examine the various frameworks that inform practice including the HCPC or NMC professional standards of conduct, performance and ethics. 
Central to this module is the integration of theory and practice and the application of learning from the other modules that form part of this programme.

Outline Syllabus

The role of the AMHP; values and ethics in AMHP practice; parental mental health and safeguarding children; Black and minority ethnic groups and mental health; gender and sexuality in mental health; forensic mental health; AMHP skills in practice; applying legislation and the codes of practice; practice dilemmas.
