Module Aims

To understand the social work role in adult social care and investigate theoretical perspectives and methods used in adult social work.

To enable you to gather and apply knowledge from relevant social research and theory about the nature and context of social work practice with adults in different contexts and with differing needs.

To develop a thorough understanding of life transitions and reflect on culturally appropriate responses to change and/or crisis and their relevance to social work practice.

Outline Syllabus

Key community care legislation and policies; Personalisation and assessment frameworks; risk and adult protection; cultural theories and models of adult development; managing change and/or crisis over the life course; reflective practice; disability; mental health; bereavement and loss; domestic abuse; drug and substance misuse.
