Module Aims

This module is designed to prepare you for professional practice involving risk assessment and management in complex situations.  This will include opportunities to critically review theories and models of crisis management; to critically analyse indicators associated with risk, risk assessment, management, promoting safety and positive risk taking.  The module will also review the evidence regarding risk assessment and management including research evidence, case reviews and homicide inquiries.

Constructing risk of harm: critical perspectives Actuarial and clinical methods of assessing risk Dynamic v static risk assessments Models for assessing risk Constructing dangerous identities: ethnicities, gender & sexualities Developing interprofessional practice in risk assessment: problems of power and knowledge; Managing risk in the community: the challenge of interprofessional, and family/carer communication.
