Module Aims

1. To provide the student with a structured and monitored experiential learning opportunity. 2. To enable the student to further develop the theoretical and clinical knowledge base required to interpret musculoskeletal radiographs. 3. To develop the student`s ability to construct clear and concise medical image reports.

Outline Syllabus

The student will: explore the signs and symptoms of musculoskeletal disease and trauma and develop clinical assessment competencies to underpin their clinical decision making; undertake a wide range of reports of musculoskeletal radiographs developing expertise and autonomy as an advanced clinical Practitioner (ACP); gain knowledge of image optimisation for diagnosis and appreciate the relevance of alternative imaging modalities and diagnostic tests; explore their role and responsibility in maintaining and improving evidence based image acquisition techniques and quality; understand their responsibility as a professional role model and support development of the wider clinical team within the specialty;  analyse the contribution of image reporting pathways to patient care and management and reflect on legislative and professional body documentation in the context of potential scope of practice, service quality and safety; reflect on personal skills, knowledge and practice development, completing an audit of practice to demonstrate clinical application of learning.
