Physiotherapy Management of Peripheral Joint Dysfunction - Lower Limb

Module Aims        

This module will enable the physiotherapist to reflect on current practice and develop advanced theoretical and practical skills in the management of individuals with lower limb dysfunction.

Outline Syllabus   

1.Critical analysis and synthesis of relevant anatomy, pathology, biomechanics& physiological processes underpinning the management of patients with peripheral joint dysfunction and associated soft tissue injuries affecting the lower limb
2.Advanced clinical reasoning & differentiation skills in relation to the examination and treatment of patients with lower limb dysfunction
3.Critical evaluation and practical application of advanced manual therapy techniques to the management of patients with hip, knee, ankle and foot dysfunction based on evidence-based physiotherapy practice. 4.Evaluation of theory and practice in relation to the use of a variety of skills including mobilisation techniques, muscle imbalance, the use of exercise therapy, hydrotherapy and electrotherapy. 5.Critical appraisal and reflection on current research and practice in relation to gait analysis and lower limb function and dysfunction.
6.Reflective and effective interpersonal and communication skills, including the use of the Internet for communication & advanced data base searches.
