To develop the students' understanding of various specialist fields of epidemiology and of more complex analytical methods than those encountered in the module: Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
Further study designs and data analysis methods: linear and generalized linear models; meta-analyses, survival analysis, random & mixed effects models (repeated measures, cluster trials), measures of diagnostic accuracy and agreement. An introduction to Bayesian analysis. Special topics - surveillance, health screening, infectious diseases, genetic epidemiology, reproductive / environmental / nutritional epidemiology.
