Clinical Examination and Care Management

Module Aims       

Students will gain bespoke skills and competencies associated with their area of practice. They will develop an understanding of subject specific principles for Enhancing Contemporary Midwifery Practice  for all child bearing women. Clinical skills in assessment will be developed in order to undertake safe examinations amongst specified client groups, with the ability to demonstrate higher level clinical reasoning and  problem solving.

Outline Syllabus   

Case histories drawn from practice, covering a range of normal anatomy/ physiology and pathological changes. Face to face/ on line teaching materials around assessment of systematic anatomy and physiology and deviations from the norm. Problem solving and clinical decision making. Ethical, legal and professional issues around extending roles. Protocols, procedures and guidelines. Auditing of practice. Critical reading skills. Utilising research evidence to inform best practice.
