Module Aims       

The aim is to critically examine and understand legal, theoretical and practical underpinnings of international trade and investment law taking into account the latest developments in these fields. The content of the module is flexible by nature and can be amended to incorporate significant international developments in the area of trade and investments such as the impact of Brexit, the revision of NAFTA and the efforts to revise WTO.

Outline Syllabus   

A selection from a list of topics about international trade and investment law including amongst others:
-WTO, aims, objectives and dispute resolution.

-EU free trade and the impact of Brexit.

-NAFTA, TTIP and other significant international free trade agreements.

-Aims and objectives of international investment law and key principles.

-Bilateral and multilateral investment treaties.

-Rights of investors and dispute resolution mechanisms.

-Current issues in international trade and investment law.
