Module Aims       

This module aims to introduce students to the study of the biological anthropology, including human evolution and the analysis of archaeological and modern human skeletal remains.

Outline Syllabus   

The module introduces the students to the context of human evolutionary studies, including basic genetics and an introduction to primatology. Primate and human evolution is presented with detailed information on physical changes and the importance of technological advances that affected human evolution. Students are introduced to the variability of modern humans and how this is employed in establishing biological identity. The ethical debates surrounding the analysis of human remains are introduced.
