The module will provide a framework for students to develop a range of study skills and an understanding of forensic methods over 2 semesters within a portfolio framework. In addition it will encourage an appreciation of the current state of knowledge of new techniques and discoveries within this context.
Principles of learning and study skills: Study skills, self-directed learning, barriers to effective learning, teaching and assessment styles, time and self-management. Lifelong Learning: Reflective practice and critical reasoning. Use of Personal Development Portfolio. Managing and Understanding information: Word Processing, e-mail, WWW, use of libraries and databases, Blackboard, Powerpoint, Excel. Communication Skills: Presentation Skills, working in groups and in and outside teaching sessions.
