Commercial Law
The LLM International Commercial Law course will provide you with a thorough grounding in the regulation of international commerce.
You’ll study core modules which cover the basic foundations of law and move on to learn about the key aspects of commercial law. You’ll also have a range of optional modules to choose from across the department. These include; Cyberlaw, Business, Human Rights and Environment, and Commercial Dispute Resolution.
Working as a Commercial Lawyer
Commercial lawyers provide businesses with advice on commercial agreements and transactions such as commercial contracts, mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructuring.
As a commercial lawyer, you could find yourself representing a portfolio of clients, as part of a law firm, or working in-house representing the interests of a specific organisation.
Environmental Law and Policy
The LLM Natural Resources and Environmental Law and Policy degree will give you an up-to-date understanding of environmental issues affecting societies across the globe, as well as the law and policies governing this area.
Your study programme will be made up of core modules which give you the necessary contextual background to environmental issues, as well as optional modules which allow you to discover prominent areas within environmental law, from climate change law and petroleum law, to natural resource governance and international environmental governance.
Environmental law work
Environmental Law covers diverse areas such as climate change, energy sources and corporate social responsibility, and there are opportunities across a range of organisations.
You could find work within a law firm, advising corporate clients on the environmental impacts of their activities. Outside of the legal sector, there are opportunities within government departments such as the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and charities.
Human Rights Law and Development
The Human Rights and Development postgraduate degree is carefully structured to provide students with an in-depth understanding of human rights in its multi-faceted form.
As part of the programme, you’ll also explore the ways in which human rights law can complement global development and help tackle international challenges such as war, terrorism and climate change.
Human rights law
