University of Bradford VC joins world figures to speak at major online conference

University of Bradford Vice-Chancellor Professor Shirley Congdon will be joining global figures as a guest speaker at a major international online education conference.

A World of Tomorrow: Negotiating a Better Future takes place from July 10-12, 2020 and anticipates a global audience of 500,000 from over 75 countries.

The conference will examine education in a post-Covid-19 world, including the increasing use of technology in ‘blended’ online and face-to-face learning; poverty, unequal distribution of wealth, and unequal access to healthcare; the impact of climate change; and how to harness technology to predict a safer world.

Speaking on the future of higher education, Professor Congdon will cover issues such as how COVID-19 is driving a revolution in higher education, the opportunities this provides and what strategic plans need to be considered by Higher Education systems in preparation for a post-pandemic world.

Among the world figures speaking at the event will be Dr Tedros Andhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization.

Professor Congdon said: “I am delighted and honoured to be asked to speak at such a prestigious international conference and alongside world leaders in their fields. Education at all levels has found itself at the heart of the most significant issues to emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic, and one that is fundamental to the future resilience of the world. There are major challenges and opportunities ahead, some of which were known, some of which have emerged during the pandemic, and all of which will reshape education in a relatively short period of time.”
