Fifth Bradford Bangladesh Alumni Meeting held in Dhaka

The fifth University of Bradford Bangladesh alumni meeting took place at the well-known Cadet College Club, Dhaka, on Saturday 13 January 2018. The meeting started off at 6 pm with members socialising over hot soup and crispy 'singaras'.

The meeting was chaired by Bradford PhD alumnus (1997), Professor Dr. Md Fazli Ilahi, former Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic University of Technology of the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation, and the chief guest was Mr. Shahjahan Ali Mollah, Member, Public Services Commission, Government of Bangladesh.

Other honorable guests included Dr. Khondaker Showkat Hossain, (MATT-2 from University of Bradford during 2009-10), former Secretary, Government of Bangladesh, Dr. A.K.M.A. Quader (Phd, University of Bradford, 1972), Former Professor, BUET, Mr. Ismat Abu Shihab, Regional Director, University of Bradford, and Ms. Jaishree Chaturvedi, Country Development Manager, University of Bradford.

The program was conducted and MC’d by Bradford alumnus and representative in Bangladesh Mr. K Atique -e- Rabbani, FCA. There was an air of enthusiasm, gratefulness to the alma mater, the University of Bradford, faculties and international support staff (with Sue Baker fondly remembered by many). The whole audience was engaged.

In total, there were 28 attendees with 17 alumni and 11 guests. During the meeting, alumni introduced themselves and narrated their unique Bradford experiences. Mr. Ismat Abu Shihab and Ms. Jaishree presented the latest developments of University of Bradford, which impressed the whole audience. The guests, Chief Guest, and the Chair shared their valuable comments. Tarikul Islam and others clicked away and captured all memorable moments of the evening – view more pictures from the event.

A musical soiree followed with alumna Ms. Rahima Begum and her sons, Samin and Zahin, Ms. Azizunnahar, Mr. K Atique -e- Rabbani, Ms. Syeda Afroz, and Ms. Mallika Dey participating.

Sumptuous dinner from Cadet College Club chefs rounded off the evening in great style. Some even stayed back chatting and networking until midnight.
