University of Bradford disability network achieves international recognition

A University of Bradford disability network has been highly commended at the European Diversity Awards.

n-able, a network for promoting disability equality, was shortlisted in the category of Outstanding Employee Network of the Year award for its work towards the Diversity Festival held at the University in April. It was also recognised for its strategic work towards the policies and procedures supporting disabled staff at the University.

The awards were held at the Natural History Museum in London and showcased the individuals and organisations who excel in equality, diversity and inclusion.

Co-chairs of n-able, Cath Rose and Gill Cockburn, attended the prestigious event along with two members of the network, Adam Tasker and Katherine Coussement.

Gill said: “We were so surprised to receive such amazing recognition of the work we have done so far. We are a small network managing to make a big impact, of which we are very proud. We will continue to shout about disability and inclusion as it is our passion. The University has been so supportive of us and we hope to continue our good work”.

The network meets regularly to discuss issues, initiatives and support within the disability agenda, and organises events and activities.

n-able is celebrating its 10th year this year and has received 3 awards in the field of equality over the last 12 months.
