Physiotherapy at Bradford first choice for Hong Kong students
Bradford is making international waves in physiotherapy as students from across the world choose Bradford as their home.
The University of Bradford hosts one of the top physiotherapy departments in the UK, after rising to third in the most recent Complete University Guide listings. It also boasts a 100% student satisfaction rate in the National Student Survey 2015 and has been a leader in the field over the last 65 years. These accolades combined with the 100% employment rate are why 16 Hong Kong students have already decided to join the course this September.
Bradford has had long standing links with Hong Kong which have recently seen an increase in the number of Chinese students coming to Bradford. Many international students see the value of being taught by staff who are not only practicing physiotherapists but are producing research papers in renowned journals across the world.
Students will get the opportunity to work in University clinics with real patients and gain specialist knowledge in areas such as musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.
Kenny, a 3rd year physiotherapy student from Hong Kong said: “I chose to study Physiotherapy because I had shadowed a Physiotherapist in a rehabilitation centre in Hong Kong and the found the process of rehabilitation very rewarding and interesting. As a practical person, studying Physiotherapy allowed me to practically apply knowledge throughout the course and career.
“I decided to study in Bradford because of the university’s location, with stores and restaurants within walking distance and the relatively cheap cost of living.
“My favourite thing about studying Physiotherapy in Bradford is the course is well structured, which allows students to build up theoretical knowledge through lectures and practical knowledge through practical lessons and clinical placements in different settings.”
The courses are approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the statutory body for Allied Health Professionals. By the end of their studies, students will be eligible to apply for registration with the HCPC, and will be eligible to apply for full membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
