The University of Bradford will host its first ever TEDx event later next week looking at education, innovation and change.
The University of Bradford will host its first ever TEDx event later next week looking at education, innovation and change.
The event will look at how progress in the world has been made through education and scientific advancement and explore the economic and environmental challenges that remain. Previously, other TEDX Bradford events have explored Life Online, The Space Between and Where We Live. This year they will be taking a critical look at curiosity as a driver of progress, underlying education, innovation and change.
Speakers at the event include Farnaz Khan, a Bradford-born award-winning serial entrepreneur and David James Arnold, a pioneering award winning designer, climate change activist, and author. Joining the list of impressive speakers are two students from the University - Matt and Salma, who will be talking about how to bring about change from the grass roots by delivering awareness training. Salma Khatun is a second year Clinical Science student and Matt Doyle a second year Peace Studies student.
Recent graduate and organiser, Maarja Hallik, said: “We have chosen the theme “Curiosity and Progress” and the location of the conference to start conversations in Bradford and beyond, about how learning can become more a pursuit of a better world and better society.
“I think TEDx offers a great opportunity to engage with both local and global audiences and stir up conversations.”
TEDxBradford Curiosity and Progress will be held at the University, where the 40th anniversary of its Division of Peace Studies will give a chance to reflect on global progress while the technical advances promise to cure our diseases or reshape the way we live our lives.
TED is owned by a non-profit, nonpartisan foundation, whose agenda is to make great ideas accessible and spark conversation. The TEDx program helps communities, organisations and individuals produce TED-style events at the local level.
The next TEDxBradford called ‘Curiosity and Progress’ will be on Wednesday 26 March 2014, 5pm-9pm, in the Norcroft Centre at the University.
