Bestway Foundation Scholars meet Sir Anwar Pervez OBE

Published:

The five Bestway Foundation Scholars had the opportunity to meet Sir Anwar Pervez OBE and Younus Sheikh from Bestway Group at their head office in London on Thursday 26 June.

The students, Sir Anwar and Younus spent time discussing the impact that being the inaugural recipients of the Bestway Foundation Countries in Crisis Scholarship has had on their lives and the new opportunities available to them as a result of their time studying at Bradford.

In 2013 the University unveiled a partnership with Bestway Foundation UK, the charitable arm of Bestway Group, to invest £500,000 to fund five annual scholarships over five years for postgraduate students applying from Pakistan.

The scholarships, which cover all expenses including tuition and accommodation fees, are open to people who want to move from the country to Bradford to study science, technology, maths or engineering-related disciplines.

The first five student recipients are Faizan Khan, MSc Internet Computer and Systems Security, Shahab Ud Din, MSc Manufacturing Management, Yasir Habib, MSc Electrical Engineering with Power Electronics, Tayyaba Nafees, MSc Software Engineering and Jawaria Irfan, MSc Cancer Pharmacology.
