University of Bradford announces honorary degree recipients

The University of Bradford will award three honorary degrees during ceremonies this week on Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 December 2013.
Three influential members of the public will be awarded for their exceptional achievements and valuable contributions to the wider community:
- Steven Frayne - better known by his stage name Dynamo, will be made a Doctor of the University, receiving an honorary degree for his commitment to improving the opportunities for young people through education and pastimes, his continuous support for the city of Bradford and his long-standing services to charity.
- Demeke Mekonnen - will be made a Doctor of Education, receiving an honorary degree for improving access to education in Ethiopia over the last five years.
- The Right Reverend Nick Baines - will be made a Doctor of the University, receiving an honorary degree for his contribution to the University and to the city of Bradford.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Brian Cantor, said “The University of Bradford is honoured to have such distinguished guests at this year’s award ceremonies.
“These eminent individuals are a credit to society and their respective professions. I hope their presence inspires our students to accomplish great things and to be driven in their future careers after they have graduated from the University.”
