University of Bradford students to film Bingley Music Live 2013

22 August 13

Current students and recent graduates of the University of Bradford's Media School will this year be tasked with filming and editing a daily video blog for Bingley Music Live.

The festival is funded by Bradford Council and organised by a team of music enthusiasts who hope that the video package will communicate the diversity of acts to prospective visitors.

A variety of output has been at the heart of the festival’s philosophy since its launch in 2007; it is one of the factors that helped the event to rank in the top 10 of ‘Medium Sized Festivals’ at the UK Festival Awards in 2012. It will be the job of University of Bradford students to capture the wide-ranging programme of entertainment and generate daily highlights packages to strict deadlines.

Vytautas Rudys, who recently graduated from the University with a BSc in Media Technology and Production, expressed his excitement at the challenge. He said: “I want to specialise in video editing so the pressure of producing a slick corporate video with tight time constraints will be an invaluable experience. It’s an ideal role to add to my CV.”

Their involvement has been arranged by the Digital Media Working Academy, a team within the University that generates career development opportunities for students. Forming part of the University of Bradford’s commitment to student employability, the event will greatly benefit both the participating students and festival organisers.

Andrew Wood, Event Manager for Bingley Music Live, expressed his appreciation of the partnership with the University. He said: “Bingley Music Live is really looking forward to collaborating with the Working Academy over the production of a daily video blog, as well as a retrospective promotional film about the event.”
