The University of Bradford is the 8th greenest university in the UK according to People and Planet's Green League released today in The Guardian.
The University has climbed from 14th to 8th place achieving its highest score to date of 50. This climb also sees the University at the top of the green league table in Yorkshire beating off regional universities to secure its place.
The People and Planet’s Green League is a comprehensive and independent league table of the UK universities, ranked by environmental and ethical performance. The Green League scores universities on a range of different policies and performance factors, including ethical procurement, sustainable food, carbon, waste and energy management.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mark Cleary, said: "The University is dedicated to sustainability and today’s announcement further demonstrates this. It has been a fantastic year for sustainability on campus with the opening of The Green; the sustainable student village in September and more recently winning a Greenbuild award for its new School of Health Studies building and being announced as Carbon Champion of the Year 2012."
