Media Academy students film a Bradford F.C. match

In a unique agreement with Bradford University, Bradford City Football Club has given season-long access to students from the University's Skillset Media Academy to film all the live home League and Cup matches.

Media Academy students will not only cover each game, but have access to players and coaches for pre and post match interviews. They will be working alongside sports coverage professionals to edit game highlights packages, producing content for the FA, the club, the fans and other media.

The Working Academy started in January 2011 with ambitious targets to get its students working on real media and digital production commissions. Now six months on  it has already generated more than £60,000 of income, given over 40 paid opportunities for students and been contracted by high profile organisations and businesses, including the NHS, Ronseal and GfK NOP.

Students work on productions with the support of industry professional mentors, who ensure that on the job training underpins the process of delivering a high quality end product to the client. Participating students have the chance to develop specialism in camera work, editing, press photography and television journalism.

Dr Ian Palmer, Dean at the University of Bradford, said: "It's essential our students gain the experience of a real world production environment and the pressures and constraints of working on proper commissions to deadlines and within budget."

David Baldwin, Chief Exec of Bradford City football club, said: "The club want to maximise the audience access to our matches, so having the Skillset Academy students from the University film and produce highlights packages for us gives us this great opportunity."
