23 February 11

The University of Bradford will host a Rock School Weekend on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 February for local looked after young people to celebrate National Care Leavers Week.

Ten young people aged 14-16 years old are attending the weekend and will take part in a wide range of workshops over the weekend including song recording, learning to play musical instruments and creating their very own rock band.

The Rock School Weekend is part of a diverse range of Access and Widening Participation activities which are aimed at raising the aspiration of looked after young people across the district.

Widening Participation Co-ordinator at the University of Bradford, Anwar Ayub, said: "The Rock School will not only give young people a fun and action packed weekend but will give the participants an opportunity to meet new people, build their aspirations and show them a taste of university life."

The weekend is being run with the Access and Widening Participation team, at the University, in partnership with Factory Street Studios.
