University awards staff for engagement with industries

The University of Bradford will host its first Excellence in Knowledge Transfer Awards this Wednesday (21 April 2010) to reward its staff for their involvement in Knowledge Transfer.

The shortlisted entries are today announced, which celebrate the University's engagement with industry and other partners nationally and internationally and the positive contributions they have on society, the economy and the environment.

The awards aim to reward University staff, strengthen relationships with businesses, showcase the University's success as well as generate new business. Prizes will be awarded in four different categories.

  • Vice-Chancellor's Excellence in Knowledge Transfer Award - rewards the exceptional contributions of individual staff to the University's Knowledge Transfer success.  Based on an assessment of economical, social and environmental impact at national and international level, the significance of external relationship developed and the overall benefit to the University.
  • The Business Innovation Award - recognises and celebrates successful knowledge transfer between the University and the business world. The award will go to the individual/area carrying out a project resulting in a significant positive impact on the company's business performance and success.
  • The Tom Ashdown Award - marks the success of the University's Think Business@Bradford and Amazeyourself@Bradford business support programmes.
  • Interdisciplinary Working Award - celebrates different areas of the University who are collaborating to develop innovations that would not be possible by working independently.

Award winners will be announced by guest speaker, Trevor Higgins, BT Partnership Director at a prestigious dinner in the University's Atrium on Wednesday evening.
