Station Manager and PhD student, Andrew McSweeney, said: "We're all really looking forward to the weekend and it is RamAir's biggest event to date.  Contestants will have no contact with the outside world for the duration of the competition and living in the studio for 48 hours with people they may not know.

"The idea for 'The Lockdown' came about during a conversation about the most unlikely events RamAir could host. When I mentioned the idea of a radio reality programme, we realised it might be crazy enough to work. Now everything is ready we can't wait to unleash the twists and turns of 'The Lockdown'"

The competition, streamed live over the 48 hours on RamAir's website ( and broadcast on campus (1350AM), will end at 10.30pm on Sunday 29 March when the winner will be the last person out of 'The Lockdown' winning a brand new bike.
