Vice-Chancellors from fifteen Pakistan universities will be visiting Bradford for 10 days as they seek to develop a broad understanding of Higher Education within the UK. The programme has been developed by the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education (LFHE), the Pakistan Higher Education Commission, and the British Council.

As well as spending a significant period of time at the University of Bradford, the Vice-Chancellors will make day visits to the universities of Leeds, York and Huddersfield.

The visit to the University will enable the Vice- Chancellors to identify key issues in developing the management of Pakistani universities, against parallel experiences and initiatives in the UK. It will aid development in the areas of:

  • Research and Postgraduate studies
  • International strategy
  • Governance, strategic management and planning, leadership and resource management
  • Knowledge transfer, lifelong learning and contribution to regional development.

During the visit, the group will interview a range of 'witnesses' who will provide information, experience and documentation relating to the areas of enquiry.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Geoff Layer, said: "We are delighted to welcome our colleagues from Pakistan. The visit demonstrates the international nature of both the University and the city."

Director of International and UK Projects, LFHE, David Locke said: "The LFHE is delighted with the warm welcome that Bradford and its university have given to this important group. The learning experience that they are receiving will help them to take forward the higher education agenda in Pakistan."
