University of Bradford to take more students for September 2009
19 August 09
Students across England and Wales will be receiving their A level results tomorrow (Thursday 20 August) and many thousands of students may see themselves going through the Clearing process to secure a place in Higher Education.
The Department for Business Innovation and Skills have agreed to make available the funds to meet the student support costs of an additional 10,000 full-time undergraduates.
Due to the vocational nature of the University's courses and its excellent graduate employment statistics, that supports the governments 'New Industry, New Jobs' policy, the University has been able to accept an additional 197 places. It will therefore be able to take more students for September 2009, across a broad range of subjects, including as Engineering, Design and Technology, Computing and Mathematics, Business Studies, Management Studies, Economics, Chemistry, and Biomedical Sciences.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Geoff Layer, said: "The University is delighted to hear that extra places have been made available for students who are looking to secure a place for September 2009. As the University has recently seen a great increase in its number of applications and acceptances for its courses, we will now be in the position to offer potential students more opportunities to study at the University."
The admissions hotline will be open at various times from Thursday 20 August to Friday 28 August.
