University hosts family day out to banish the winter blues

Tasmin Little Music Centre at the University of Bradford is holding a day-long festival of musical performance, perfect for families looking to spend quality time doing something different on a chilly November day.
On Sunday, 22 November, 2009, the music centre will take over the Atrium in the Richmond Building at the University will come alive with dancing and the sounds of music from around the globe.
The day's entertainment will begin with music from colourful street band 'Honeydrum' who play a lively blend of African and South American drumming styles. Later in the day, world famous, 'Bollywood Brass Band' will perform, providing a soundtrack which blends Bollywood, jazz, world music, and dance remixes. Featuring drummers and a six-piece horn section, the 'Bollywood Brass Band' play well-known songs from Indian films, all driven by the huge beat of the dhol drum.
The 'Bradford Singers' will also make their debut performing a selection of beautiful choral music by Bach & Mozart, directed by Bradford-born conductor Jonathan Brigg. This debut will be performed alongside poetry by Yorkshire and Persian poets and creative writing students from the University.
The finalé of the day will be a performance by 'L-Mo', award winning, adrenaline fuelled Leeds/Bradford three piece band, who promise to bring fun-filled, acoustic excitement and an up-beat musical climax to end the day.
Mark Haydn Robinson, Artistic Director of the Tasmin Little Music Centre said "This is certain to put a warm, friendly musical glow into late autumn and it will be a great opportunity to hear a fabulous festival of global music performed by an array of excellent artists".
Refreshments will also be available during the afternoon from the Richmond Building, Atrium Café.
