Bradford community students to benefit from postgraduate tuition fee discount

27 April 09

The University of Bradford is making a major contribution to helping individuals in these challenging economic times by offering £750 off tuition fees for many of its taught full-time postgraduate courses in 2009/2010.

This will help support this year's graduates who would normally be expecting to gain graduate employment this summer, but who may now want to reflect on their career choice to improve their choice of longer term employment. It will also give students the opportunity to move into another area of study to broaden their employability.

The discount will benefit students who are from Bradford but have chosen to study elsewhere for their undergraduate degree, as well as students who are studying at the University. They will be eligible for the discount providing they are in their final year of undergraduate study or graduated in 2008 and fulfil the entry requirements.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Geoff Layer, said: "Due to the change in economy, some students may be unsure on their career direction. The University hopes to offer some guidance and support by offering the student community some financial support. As Bradford is a city which is proud of its graduates, the opportunity to gain an extra qualification and improve job chances will be a very welcome initiative."

Chair of Employment and Skills Board Bradford, Trevor Higgins said: "I am delighted to hear about the University of Bradford's offer of a Postgraduate tuition fee discount of £750. A key challenge of the Employment and Skills Board is to produce a world class work force that is employed locally. By working alongside the University we hope to be able to achieve this."

The University will be offering a drop-in event on Wednesday 29 April, between 12.00pm - 2.00pm to give students a chance to talk to staff about different courses and entry requirements. There will also be people on hand to talk about accommodation and career options. For further information and criteria's please visit:
