Maria Cristina Cifuentes

Academic Background: Public Administrator, Bachelor in Foreign Languages, Specialist in senior management of companies, with training in children and climate change from the United Nations.

Areas of interest: Her main areas of interest are peacebuilding and conflict resolution from global and local levels, international politics, gender equality, security mechanisms, and climate change mitigation strategies.

Working experience: Cristina currently works as the Coordinator for children, adolescents and family in the Municipal Administration of the city of Tunja. She is also a member of the Public Policy Committee and the delegate for monitoring compliance with the development plan.

Besides this she is the delegate of the National Organisation of Liberal Youth to the International Union of Socialist Youth. She is the External Relations Coordinator of the Green Committee of Rotary District 4281 in Colombia and is the Global Ambassador for Climate Justice for Plant-For-The-Planet.

In 2020 Cristina was trained as a positive peace multiplier in Colombia by the Institute of Economics for Peace and Global Partners, through a global grant project of Rotary International. She developed a project to support children from an educational institution in Tunja with students in vulnerable and challenging environments who required support to be trained in positive peace strategies and practices.

In 2018 Cristina worked in the creation of a project to help migrant children on the border of Colombia and Venezuela, carrying out research in Llano Jorge, Venezuela and Villa del Rosario, Colombia. The project was coordinated with the support of Solidar Foundation of Brussels.
