Julia Azevedo Sapucaia is a Law Bachelor (Integrated Faculties of Vitória - FDV, 2016) and an international mediator certified by ICFML/IMI (2018). Coursed an extension project in the Faculty of Law of Coimbra, Portugal (2014). Specialist in Consumers Rights (2018). She joined the Mediated Indemnity Program related to the breach of the Fundão dam, in Mariana / MG, Brazil, in April 2017 and joined Faleck & Associados, the first dispute resolution firm fully specialized in mediation and settlement counsel in Brazil, in August 2020 to act as a facilitator in indemnity programs implemented in situations of national repercussion, specially related with mineral exploitation.
By promoting mediation and facilitation, she believes that there are alternative methods of resolving disputes that take into account the needs of the parties and seek a feasible solution that is built together through dialogue. It allows the affected cities to recover their economic activities and continue to develop.
Beyond her professional experience, Julia has been involved with Non-Governmental Organisations such as Junior Achievement and AIESEC, international platforms that enable the personal and professional development of young students through teamwork, leadership and exchange programs. In 2019, she was one of ten personalities selected to represent the Brazilian’s delegation by Civil Diplomacy at the High Level Political Forum - UN headquarters, where she was immersed in the UN's objectives of promoting peace and human development, participating in workshops, debates, publishing articles and building a strong network with youth worldwide, thinking of strategies to empower youth nationally and internationally to promote the values of peace, sustainability and human development.
