As a representative of an NGO, she worked to implement the community development projects, focusing on child education and water/sanitation in Northern Province in Vietnam, where she realized the key to development and peace is to invest in people through education.

As a young professional at Korean government agency for international development and cooperation (KOICA) in Rwanda, she worked with the Rwanda government ministries to implement the school zone project. It was the very first kind of campaign, supported by the City of Kigali, Rwanda National Police and public media to raise awareness among children, parents and drivers to reduce the traffic accidents near schools.

Fascinated by people, history and nature of Rwanda, she went back to work as a project manager with the Korean National Commission for UNESCO, to build the Community Learning Centre and operate the non-formal education programs, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Rwanda National Commissions for UNESCO. Witnessing Rwanda’s effort to overcome the 1994 genocide for 20 months solidified her interests and passion in peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
