You can keep your options open by studying the general principles of business or choose the specialist area of management studies that suits your skills and career aspirations. Whichever course you choose, there will be some flexibility to design a programme of study to suit your needs and interests.
Our undergraduate courses in Business and Management Studies, Marketing, Accounting and Finance, International Business and Management and Human Resource Management share a common first year, so you can switch between them at the end of the first year, subject to satisfactory performance.
On some of our courses, there is also the option to take them over four years and spend a year in industry; study abroad for a semester in Europe, Canada, Australia or Hong Kong; or combine your subject with a language to make yourself more attractive to employers.
The theme of sustainability runs throughout our course content as part of our aim to address major challenges for businesses and society including global responsibility and sustainable development. Our undergraduate courses will prepare you to contribute to this agenda in your professional life, making you an attractive candidate for forward thinking organisations.
The University of Bradford's "Making Knowledge Work" promise means that you will be supported throughout your degree and beyond to get the best possible potential out of your career. School of Management students have access to our dedicated careers, learning and support services and study alongside our business partners and high flying professional postgraduate and executive education students.
Some courses may be taken over three or four years. The four-year courses include a minimum of nine months gaining practical experience outside the university, usually working as a manager in industry or commerce. There is also the option to study abroad for a semester in Europe, Canada, Australia or Hong Kong; or combine your subject with a language to make yourself more attractive to employers.
We are steeped in business. We have close links with the region’s top employers – they inform our course content, give guest lectures and take students on placement. This means that you get to meet and learn from businesses like Hallmark Cards, Morrisons, Vauxhall, Pace Plc and Freeman Grattan.
A number of professional accountancy bodies give exemptions for examinations taken at different stages of their professional qualification, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales (ICAEW), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), CPA Australia, and the Association of International Accountants (AIA).
Most of our undergraduate programmes are eligible for exemptions, but the exact detail of which examinations may be exempted vary depending on the modules taken in their studies at Bradford. For further information, please visit the appropriate websites:
