Tony is an experienced marketing consultant and trainer. He is managing director of his own consultancy and training business. Clients are spread across a wide range of sectors, with emphasis on the business-to-business sector.

After gaining a Master's degree in German and French from Oxford University, he started his business career with GKN, the industrial conglomerate, in the export sales and marketing division. After GKN, he worked in sales and marketing for a number of largely industrial companies worldwide - in mainland Europe, South Africa and south-east Asia.

While working in industry, he obtained a Diploma in Management Studies from Huddersfield University, and was active within the Confederation of British Industry (CBI). He was a member of the CBI Smaller Firms Council, working specifically with the marketing group task force. He chaired the CBI West Yorkshire Group for six years.

Tony is now a visiting teaching fellow in marketing at University of Bradford School of Management. Having taught many of the School's marketing modules, he now concentrates on executive development and postgraduate programmes, specialising in strategic and tactical marketing.

At Bradford, he has been course director for external clients such as Exel, the international logistics company, and Kelda, formerly Yorkshire Water. Outside the UK, he runs the School's MBA marketing programme in Dubai for the airline, Emirates. For TiasNimbas, the School's sister organisation in the Netherlands, Tony delivers programmes in Mainz, Bonn and Berlin, and is a member of the TiasNimbas faculty.

Tony is also a core faculty member of, and acts as course director for, the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) at Moor Hall in Cookham, Berkshire. Courses he has run include Foundations of Strategic Marketing, Marketing for Directors, and Managing Marketing People.

He has run successful in-company programmes for various clients in different sectors. These include Microsoft, Shell, Sainsbury's, Centrica (owner of British Gas), and the Diamond Trading Company (formerly de Beers).

With a colleague from Leeds University Business School, Tony has been commissioned by Kogan Page to write a book about branding, specifically the branding of culture. This will be published in 2006.
