A team of specialist advisors with expertise in a broad range of business topics e.g. enterprise and e-commerce to name just a few, will be on hand to support new and nascent businesses engage with the University through our delivery of the Ad:Venture Entrepreneur Knowledge Exchange (EKE) programmes.

EKEs are based around our experience in delivering director support networks. This is how it will work: a small group of entrepreneurs will work together to identify and unpack business problems and formulate ways of tackling these from the experience of the group. This has been shown to be one of the most effective ways that SME directors can learn and impact upon their business.

This kind of learning and problem solving is based on the fact that we learn most when we reflect on our actions and the experience associated with them, especially if we are working with people who understand our experiences and who can help to provide structured solutions to our own problems and issues.

The emphasis is to help individuals unpick the issue in question to arrive at 'action points' through insightful questioning, encouraging reflection, challenging their assumptions and offering feedback in a supportive environment. This has often been described variously as group coaching or a virtual company board. This is a powerful technique and can be quite high impact on the participant as well as high impact on the business - so be prepared to be challenged.

EKEs will be delivered on a flexible format to best accommodate the needs of each small group. They will be facilitated by an experienced and will take place over several weeks, at times and on topics that again best suit the needs of the group.

Supporting the delivery of the Ad:Venture project is our established Knowledge Transfer Network which hosts regular free events with topical speakers followed by networking where we can introduce you to like-minded business owners, people who share similar challenges, encouraging you to learn from each other and share best practice.
